URC Semi-Finals Preview: Predictions and Win Probabilities for This Weekend

Two United Rugby Championship semi-finals on Saturday, and both have a South African side heading north as the underdog. Win probabilities are based on current Betway odds.

Saturday 6 June

Glasgow Warriors vs Bulls, 15:30 SAST (Scottish Gas Murrayfield, Edinburgh)

Glasgow finished top of the log and backed it up with a composed 33-21 win over Connacht in the quarters. The Bulls were brutal at Loftus, putting 45 points past Munster, but the trip to Edinburgh is a different test. Glasgow are quick, well organised and very hard to beat at home. If the Bulls pack can dominate the collisions and they get their kicking game right, this is closer than the odds suggest, though home advantage just tips it the hosts’ way.

Win probability: Glasgow 63%, Bulls 37%

Leinster vs Stormers, 18:30 SAST (Aviva Stadium, Dublin)

Leinster are the clear favourites and it is not hard to see why. They dismantled the Lions 59-10 in the quarters and have a near full strength squad back from international duty. The Stormers were excellent in seeing off Cardiff 44-21 and they carry a real threat out wide, but the Aviva is the toughest place to win in the competition. They will need a near perfect performance and a fast start to keep Leinster honest.

Win probability: Leinster 85%, Stormers 15%

Both South African sides go in as underdogs, but knockout rugby has a habit of throwing up surprises and a place in the final is the prize. Share your predictions below.
