I added a small Network Inspector tool that runs entirely in your browser. It tells you whether you are behind a NAT or CGNAT, or whether you have a direct public IP, and it shows your public IP address, IP type, and a few other connection details.
Why it is handy:
- CGNAT is the usual reason port forwarding, some online games, and self hosting will not work, even when your connection otherwise seems fine
- If you are paying for a service that needs a real public IP, this is a quick way to see what your ISP actually gives you
- Nothing is sent to our servers, it all runs client side
Try it here: Network Inspector
Curious what the different ISPs hand out, Vodacom, MTN, Telkom, Afrihost, Cool Ideas and the rest. Post what yours shows.
