The retrenchment calculator already works out the employer package, then waves at UIF. That wave used this job’s years of service, skipped the 238 day split, and called itself a rough guide. This is the other half: what the Fund actually pays you.
Daily benefit is the published formula, not a round percentage of your salary. Average the last six months, cap at R17,712, times 12, divide by 365. Then 29.2 + 7173.92 / (232.92 + daily income), between 38% and 60%. At the ceiling that is R221.28 a day. After 238 credit days it drops to 20%, R116.46 a day. Four full contributing years, no earlier claim: about R67,455 tax free.
Credit days are one for every four days you contributed, max 365 in four years. A year funds about 91 days. Older sites still quoting one credit per five days are on the 2016 wording. The 2018 amendment, in force March 2019, is one per four, and that is what the Department still presents in 2025.
Resignation still does not qualify, unless the CCMA treated it as a constructive dismissal. The 14 day rule is a qualification threshold, not 14 days taken off your credits. Apply within 12 months, register as a work seeker.
You can estimate from months contributed, or paste the remaining days from uFiling if you already know them. Maternity is delinked and is not this page.

General information rather than legal advice. The real award is the contribution record the Fund holds. I would be interested to hear whether uFiling’s remaining days ever disagree with the four year estimate by more than a few days, and why.
