The Details
If you earn under R84k a year, the Easy Bundle at R73.50 a month is the best all-round option for day-to-day banking. You get bundled transactions, free ATM withdrawals up to R1,500 and free real-time payments up to R1,000 a month. If you barely touch your account though, Easy PAYU at R7.50 makes more sense since you only pay per transaction.
For middle earners between R84k and R450k, Aspire at R120 gives you unlimited electronic transactions, R2,000 in free ATM withdrawals and R2,500 in free real-time payments monthly. The eBucks fuel rewards at Engen can genuinely offset a chunk of that fee.
Premier at R250 is aimed at people earning R300k-plus and adds SLOW Lounge airport access, higher eBucks earn rates and up to R4,000 in free real-time payments per month. If you fly a few times a year, the lounge access alone starts to justify the cost.
The over-55 deals are genuinely underrated. Aspire Encore drops from R120 down to R42 and Premier Select comes in at R55 instead of R250. Premier Select even waives the fee entirely if you keep R15,000 in the account.
At the top end, Private Clients at R455 and Private Wealth at R625 unlock dedicated bankers, offshore accounts and up to R30,000 in free real-time payments monthly.
The eBucks programme is the real sweetener across all tiers. Fuel rewards at Engen (up to R8 back per litre) combined with grocery discounts at Pick n Pay and Checkers can add up quickly if you actively use them.
