I built a calculator that shows you exactly how much you earn back in eBucks every time you fill up at Engen - based on your actual FNB account setup.
Try it here: eBucks Fuel Rewards Calculator – How Much Do You Save at Engen?
What it does
If you bank with FNB and fill up at Engen - you already know you earn eBucks on fuel. But figuring out your actual rand-per-litre saving involves your reward level - your account type - whether you pay with a virtual or physical card - and whether you have WesBank vehicle finance or FNB car insurance.
The calculator works all of that out for you and shows:
- Your total eBucks rate in rand per litre
- Your monthly rand saving based on how many litres you fill
- Whether you are within or over the monthly eBucks cap
- What you are missing out on if you are not on a virtual card
How to use it
Step 1 - Select your FNB account type (Premier - Private Clients - Private Wealth - RMB Private Bank - or Aspire)
Step 2 - Choose your reward level (1 to 5 - you can check yours in the FNB App under “Track My Rewards”)
Step 3 - Select whether you pay with a virtual card or physical card at the pump
Step 4 - Tick any bonus qualifiers you have - WesBank vehicle finance and/or FNB comprehensive car insurance
Step 5 - Set the slider to roughly how many litres you fill per month at Engen
The results update instantly. The calculator covers the 2025/2026 eBucks rates.
A few things I learned building this
The virtual card makes a massive difference - especially at higher reward levels. If you are still paying with a physical card at Engen you are leaving a significant chunk of eBucks on the table.
The monthly cap is also worth knowing about. Once your fuel spend crosses a certain threshold - you stop earning on additional litres. The calculator flags this and tells you roughly where your cap kicks in.
Aspire accounts work differently - the level buttons are hidden for Aspire since the rate structure is fixed.
I would love to know what results people are getting. Share your monthly saving below - or ask if something does not match what you see in the FNB App. Rates do change and I want to keep the calculator accurate.
If you are trying to figure out whether switching to a virtual card or adding car insurance is worth it financially - feel free to ask here and we can work through the numbers together.
