Diesel going up again in August, anyone else feeling it on the farm?

Saw the August fuel numbers already. Diesel looks like going up 22 to 45 cents a litre while the petrol relief we were expecting basically disappeared, oil price jumped from $72 to $88 a barrel in two weeks. For us on the plaas that diesel price hits everything, tractors, bakkies, the generator for when Eskom still plays up now and then.

Doesnt matter that load shedding is supposedly gone, the fuel bill just keeps climbing on its own. Anyone else budgeting for this already? Still running a diesel bakkie or did you move to something more efficient. And is it even worth keeping a spare tank filled anymore or just buy as you go now. Curious what other farmers and commuters are doing to cope.

That 22 to 45 cents on diesel doesnt sound like much until you tally it over a full tank every week, then its another few hundred rand a month gone before youve bought anything else. I watched clients do this exact dance for 25 years, budget for fuel like its fixed and then panic every time the rand slips past 19 to the dollar. Simplest fix Ive seen actually work, on a farm or in town, is keep a rolling three month average of your fuel spend and adjust the budget off that, not off whatever the pump says this week.
